The Adventure Begins December 1st.

Nature Nicky

For me part of traveling is about seeing how amazing the natural world is in different areas. As an environmental educator I ask a lot of questions (which drives Anna a little crazy) and like to know and understand what I'm looking at. So I hope to pass on what we are learning about along the way! Stay tuned......

Took a few days, but finally getting to my first post. I decided to just have an ongoing bird list, and add in the new birds from each place so I don't have to duplicate.

Ongoing list:
Double crested cormorant, brown pelican, white pelican, bald eagle (juvenile/adult), common gallinule, dunlin, semipalmated plover, Willet, sanderling, Redwinged black bird, turkey vulture, black vulture, American crow, blue jay, yellow rumped warbler, American robin, downy woodpecker, eastern phoebe, Carolina chickadee, red bellied woodpecker, red-shouldered hawk, northern cardinal, canyon wren, rock wren, pyrrhuloxia, Eurasian collard dove, white-crowned sparrow, northern harrier, spotted towhee, black phoebe, blue heron, scaled quail (I think), road runner (I think).

So I've decided to change it up a bit...I'm going to give a bird list from each site and then have an ongoing species list throughout the trip. and a little from all the other animals we're seeing.

Carlsbad, NM
So we went to a few different spots around Carlsbad, one which was the KOA we stayed at. I realized there are fewer birds this time of year here in winter, but there are some ver cool birds that are here.
